Our annuel cocktail at Jean Lurcat Museum, June 24, 2022.

Our annual cocktail took place in the monastery of the Jean Lurçat Museum, 4 Arago Boulevard in Angers, on June 24th from 7 to 10pm, and there were about 60 members and guests in attendance.

First, what exactly can you find in this museum?

The collections of the Jean Lurçat Museum and its modern tapestries are being housed in two buildings. St. John's Hospital (until the 1870s) with its remarkable architectural construction of the 12th century, houses the "Chant du Monde" of Jean Lurçat  and in the building next door: it houses the collections of the 1930s till today of contemporary artist textile works.

The museum opened its doors in 1968.  The city just paid off the purchase of the Jean Lurçat tapestries ten years ago.

The museum guide, Marine, explained to a devoted group of members the history of the building and she talked about some of the Lurçat tapestries.  Her talk was very interesting and it led to many questions from our members. Hopefully, her talk will lead to a follow-up visit to this truly magnificent museum.

Therefore after her dedicated tour, we entered the monastery located at the end of the room.  Here, we were welcomed by the jazzy sounds of our musical group "Cocktail" led by Chloé Nadeau.

Ton Huiskes, our president, helt a welcome speech.

And, of course, we nibbled on plenty of tastefully prepared hors d'oeuvres and delicious mini desserts by the chef of our caterer L'Orée des Bois.

Our caterer also prepared an ice plancha which was a discovery for a certain number of our members.

Special thanks to our sponsors present at the cocktail :  the City of Angers and Scania France.   Also we like to thank Mrs. Martine Chartier of the Museums in Angers who guided us with her expertise in organising this event.
